BLAAARG!

Yeah! Short story: had to frog the end of the mitten cause stupid me started decreasing when the pattern told me to. I could make one more pattern repeat before starting to decrease, and I realised this too late, I was almost finished with the decreasing when I realised that the mitten was way too short for my hand.

So woopie freakin' doo! And I will most likely have to make the next mitten in TOTALLY different colors, or buy more yarn in the same colors. Really defeates the purpose why I actually started the mittens in the first place...

Yeah, as you probably can tell, I just had to put it aside before it flew out the window in frustration. Still love the pattern, still love how they're turning out, but man, I'm furious right now.

So I'm back on the granny square blankets for now.

Got 7 more squares to connect and I can crochet the two pieces together and do all the horizontal lines, and I'm more or less done with the first one!

Quatrefoil mittens WIP

Quick little update on the mittens before bedtime.

To start off with the bad news first, I will not have enough blue...or maybe even green and pink to finish of the second mitten...so I might actually have to buy more yarn to finish them off... Sad to think that a pair of these awesome mittens would cost me 6 skeins!
I'm thinking about maybe doing the second mitted totally different or mix the order of the colors if I have enough yarn. Whatever I can do so I don't have to buy more.

Good news though, it's simpler than I thought and I can work them on my shortes circular needle! I really do like how they turn out and I'll probably end up making more of these! And this pair is the third overall mitten pair so far this year! OMG! 2014 is the year of the mittens everybody! Watch me not make a single pair after I'm done with these...
Oh well... They look awesome though! Even though this is a color combination I would NEVER pick out for something for myself...but they will just have to be mine if nobody claims them. Maybe just pulling whatever colors I have from the storage should be a thing for me this year?

What do you guys think? Are they crazy enough for ya?

Yesterday's progress - 13th jan

How thypicall isn't it, that the day I actually got stuff to show off in a "progress of the day" blogpost, the internet dies for hours and hours and doesn't come back until I'm snug in my bed, ready for sleep? Well, that's what happened yesterday, and I am sorry.
To make matters worse, my phone is dead and I've been having problems charging it, so getting all my pictures on the computer is easier said than done...hence why this blogpost goes up this late in the day.

I worked a bit on baby CarCar's blanket and almost finished the first row of hearts in the first fair-isle part. It takes forever, and I'm easily bored so this blanket will take forever, if I'll ever finish it.

As I said in my previous blogpost, I started a pair of Quatrefoil mittens. Hopefully I won't need more yarn than I've allready pulled out, expecially since I'm trying to finish off single skeins from my storage.
At first, the cuff turned out too big with the needles I started out with. I went down one size and they still feel a bit big too me...but we'll just have to see how it goes!

Just finished the spiked picot round where the cuff will get folded before I went to bed. In a few rounds, I'll be starting the fair-isle part on the cuff!

This will be interesting!

Quatrefoil fair-isle mittens?

Earlier today, I asked the members on a Facebook yarn group if they would be so kind to find me some patterns, any kind of patterns really, and I would choose one of the patterns as my next project. I am currently switching between the blanket for baby CarCar and my mother's granny square chair blankets, both which are pretty boring right now if I might add.

Two people posted a bunch of patterns, and while some of them have been on my needles before, none of them really caught my eye as something I felt I just HAD to make. But my promise was to actually make one of the patterns that was submitted, so I chose the Quatrefoil mittens. Although they look simple enough, I got little experience with fair-isle on DPN's and also fair-isle with three colors at once, so it's a good practice, I should think.

I dove into my yarn storage and fetched out three skeins of singles from my superwash batch. Not really my first choice for colors, but they'll hopefully be ugly enough for people to steal them if I decide to keep them for myself.
The yarns are Trysilgarn Superwash color 215 and 238 along with a skein of Sporty Superwash color 241.

I am also currently having a headache, so wish me luck!
