Too excited right now! I love my Batman sweater so much! Even though people look at me a bit weirdly while I use it out in public...

Batman got a DD!

OMG! This makes me so happy, you have no idea! If it wasn't for my horrible headache, I'd be jumping off the walls right now! This really brightens my day! Thank you so much Brooke for giving me this DD!

Batman recieved a DD guys! How awesome is that?

For those of you whom don't know, DD is "daily deviation" on deviantART. And since I'm bad with words today, here's a quote:
"The Daily Deviation is a daily feature chosen from the galleries here on deviantART.

A small assortment of submissions are chosen each day by a select group of staff/volunteer members who wish to showcase an image which they found impressive or otherwise interesting enough to deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large.

The staff/volunteer members responsible for selecting submissions for the daily feature often are open to suggestions and individual community members may direct their attention by noting the appropriate Community Volunteer or staff member with a direct link to the deviation which you are suggesting and a brief description about why you think the work in question should be featured."

Ever since I joined dA 8 years ago (check my old "main" account here), I've been wanting to get a DD on my art, but I really wasn't good or talented enough in either of my fields to get one, nor could I present my art is a delicate manner. To top it off, I've never been very good in putting myself out there, so I've more or less just been sulking in the depths of dA where the moderators doesn't look.

I made my second account (really more like fourth or fifth, but they're all deleted) and started submitting my knitting in september of 2012 since it has become such a big part of my life, and I wanted to find more yarnsters. I decided to give up on the hunt for DD's and I would never have thought that knitting could reach that far on a art-site mostly for photography and digital drawings. Allready, I've recieved two DD's so far on this account. Funny enough, both my february contest entries at Knitting-and-crochet (that both won first place mind you) have gotten a DD now, and I think it's becomming my "creativity-success" month or something.

My previous DD was the Jane Austen inspired fingerless mittens and cowl that I made for the Jane Austen contest. I was such a huge surprise for me to get that, I didn't know what to do with myself.

This is so much fun, you have no idea how much this means to me! So happy! If only my headache could clear up so I could look happy too... Weirdo... Yes I am...

Batman all done

Last blogpost about this, I promise!

Batman is now dry and I've been able to take good pictures of it! Enjoy! This is my own creation and based of a different pattern. Please, do not copy or alter it in any way. Knitted on 3,5mm needles in Silja superwash

The Batman is finished!

Sorry for late blogpost, the sweater has been finished for quite some time allready...I've just been too lazy...

I decided to skip making the hood, though I might do a sweater later on with hood, I do like to challenge myself with new things, but I had to get this one done as soon as possible anyway, and it looked super cool without hood.

I only had the ribbing left today, so it was a quick job. Weaving in ends and sewing up the armholes took just as long time as the neckline ribbing did.
So here's the final result! Also a kinda crappy shot of the back to show off the shortened rows.

I've washed it and now laid it out flat to dry and block at the same time and the fair-isle allready look so much better!

The second top row is supposed to say "Joker" but it's impossible to see it in the mirror so here's a close up the right way.

And then there's the curse of having a 3/4 white cat... Black projects NEVER stay black...

Look how many fucks he give about shedding all over my sweater...still can't help but to love him though <3

So yes! Batman is now finished! I'll get real pictures of it when it's all dried and stuffz! I just can't wait to be able to wear this thing 24/7!
I am currently back on the rompers for baby CarCar, got just about 5cm (2") left before starting the yoke on it! Can't wait to get it finished and ready! I'm also going to start Pickle's cowl soon enough and after that, Annet's fancy cable slippers! Fun times!

Batman is almost finished!

Oh my god! I'm so close to finish of Batman guys! Just finished the fair-isle around the yoke and will now do shortened rows in the neck and one last decreasing before ribbing and finished!

As I've said earlier, I was thinking about doing a hood for it, but after trying it on now, I decided against it and will just end with ribbing.

I love this yarn for sweaters though! Even though Silja is more a sock type yarn, it is perfect for sweaters like this. It's strong, and thin, yet warm and cozy. It's also light so the sweater doesn't weigh too much when worn. I will most likely make more sweaters with this yarn, and I do want more Marius sweaters...

What do you guys think? It took me about 10 days to make! Still not 100% done so I might count it as 11, but it's dang fast for a sweater if you ask me!

Still no big fan of yellow though...

Batman sweater WIP

A quick little WIP on Batman here!
I'm only working on this sweater until it's finished, and since it's such a huge piece, it takes some time to make progress on it. I've done quite a good chunk of the fair-isle now and I'm almost done with the Batman logos in the middle. Before you ask, yes it is based of the ever so popular Marius pattern so you could say it's just another Marius version...but I still like to call it Batman.

Note to self though... Silja looks best when worked fair-isle on 3mm needles or thinner... I am using 3,5mm needles and I feel that the knitwork feels a little loose and the fair-isle ain't the prettiest... Gonna need a hell of a blocking when it's finished, that's for sure. Still love this yarn and I will for sure make more garments with it!

Batman is currently only 9 days in the making!

Almost time for Jackie + Batman updates!

So, I finally got around to getting Jackie washed and layd of for blocking. Been holding it off since the only safe place for laying it out to try flat in this appartment is on top of the drying rack, and I've been really busy with laundry this past week.

Since Jackie was made in 65% wool and 35% alpaca yarn, not superwash threated, getting it washed is a gentle prosess. I always wash any wool items, superwash or not on cold or 30°C handwash in the machine along with soap specially made for silk and wool. If I use a program that's too fast or too warm, the garments will shrink and felt.

One awesome thing about wool garments, expecially cardigans and sweaters is that you can almost mold it into whatever shape or form you want when it's wet. Like Jackier here, by the way I've laid her out here, the cowl neck and the bottom will be super wide when she's dry. And that's the I want her to be. This wouldn't be possible if I didn't wet her first.

While I was going to wash Jackie, I threw in my Marius at the same time. I've been wearing this sweater 24/7 lately and I really love it! So warm and so cozy and yet so stylish! But since Jackie is taking up the whole drying rack and I don't have a second one, Marius here will just have to dry hanging on this chair. I'm not that picky about the shape of this sweater so it doesn't really matter where I put it to dry.

But I really need another Marius sweater or too... They're so classy and stylish... I really hope Silja here will work great as a sweater yarn, it's really good to knit with, but the real test will be when I've tried the Batman sweater on if it holds up or not. If it does, then I'll make myself some crazy and colorfull sweaters cause the yarn is really cheap and good quality!
Speaking of which... I've done quite some work on Batman and the body now is currently measuring just about 40cm (15.7") I'm planning on making the body quite long so I might do another 10cm before I cast off for the armholes.

I've yet to draw up the fair-isle pattern though and I'm still pondering if I should do it raglan or round. There's cos and pros for both parts so I think it'll all come down to how I make the fair-isle look. I've also been tossing around the idea of making a hood on it. Since it's Batman, a hood would be perfect and bring it all together, but I'm not 100% sure how to do this. I've read through a few patterns for hoods and I got an idea, so I guess I'll just have too see if it'll work in real life.

And one more thing. I've been wondering if I should try and make sleeves like these for it. It may crash a bit with the style though... I'm atleast pondering if I should make the ribbing that long, so we'll see if I'm to add or drop the poofyness of the sleeves.

Anyways, see yall later! I'm off to do some more mindless knitting on Batman before bedtime!
